Privacy Policy

Last updated: Sep 26, 2026

The short version: Pearful has no accounts and no analytics. What you're eating, and any photo you take, is sent to our server only to generate suggestions, and is not stored afterwards. Your settings and saved plates stay on your phone.

Who we are

If you have questions about this policy, write to mavibus@icloud.com.

What the app sends to our server

To suggest additions to a meal, the app sends the following to our server:

We do not ask for your name, email address, or any account details, because the app does not have accounts.

How that information is used

It is used for one purpose: producing suggestions for that request. To do so, we pass it to Anthropic's Claude API, which generates the response. Anthropic processes it as our service provider. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. You can read their privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for marketing.

What we keep

Your requests are not stored on our server. They are processed and discarded once the response is returned. Photos are never written to disk on our side.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps standard network logs for a limited period, which may include your IP address. We also count requests per IP address temporarily, in order to limit abuse of the service. These counts hold no information about your meals.

What stays on your device

Your saved preferences, your pantry list, and any plates you save are stored on your phone. We cannot see them. Deleting the app removes them.

Your choices

Children

Pearful is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The app has an option for kid-friendly suggestions, but it is meant for an adult choosing food for a child.

Health information

What you eat can be sensitive. We treat it accordingly: it is used only to answer your request, never stored, and never shared beyond the processing described above. Pearful offers general suggestions about food, not medical or dietary advice.

Not medical or dietary advice

Pearful suggests foods you could add to a meal. Its suggestions are generated by an AI model and are general ideas, not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice, and not a substitute for a doctor or a registered dietitian. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are managing a specific diet, follow the guidance of a qualified professional rather than the app.

Allergies: the app lets you record foods to avoid and set a dietary preference, and it tries to respect them, but because suggestions come from an AI model we cannot guarantee it always will, and it cannot know the hidden ingredients in a packaged product. Always check labels and ingredients yourself, and never rely on the app alone where an allergy or intolerance is involved.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it, and significant changes will be noted in the app.
